Job overview
To assist the Ward Manager in providing Leadership and Operational Management to a Ward ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to all service users on the ward/department. The post holder will assess, plan and implement care, and provide specialist nursing advice and carry out specialist nursing procedures in the agreed care group. They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to junior staff, providing supervision to junior staff and students.
The post holder must have completed their preceptorship, therefore we are unable to accept international nurses who are not currently practicing in the UK.
Main duties of the job
- Clinical and operational leadership of the ward supporting the ward manager
- Clinical Audits
- Line manage junior members of staff including the role of preceptor for newly qualified nurses
- Assessor for Student Nurses
- Carry out the role of Duty Manager on a rostered basis
- PICU Knowledge and Experience to carry out assessments for those referred to the service. Ensure practice meets national guideance.
- Lead quality improvements on the ward encouraging others to actively participate to improve the service
- Provide leadership and support in managing challenging situations and be able to carry out physical interventions if it is required
