Tintagel Ward is a 29 bedded acute Neurology and eldercare ward specialising in providing care to those with Neurological deficits, ongoing neurological disease and disorders.
We are a supportive team who work together to achieve the best outcomes for our most vulnerable patients. Our specialty makes us an exciting ward that provides holistic, multi-professional care. Tintagel Ward is involved in delivering specialist care to its neurology patients as well as supporting tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients, spinal and eldercare chest wall injuries.
We are looking for a Deputy Ward Leader to come and work within our fantastic team, striving to provide outstanding patient care. We are seeking to appoint highly motivated and enthusiastic people that want to ensure the highest of quality in nursing care.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and have a good knowledge and understanding of clinical standards. You must be able to work on your own initiative and also be an excellent team player whilst being prepared to develop as an individual and support others to develop. We will encourage you to influence and enable others, to be a role model who leads from the front by utilising your clinical expertise to improve practice, to challenge tradition and to work with the team to create a culture of therapeutic optimism and hope.
Part time - 34.5 hours per week (days, nights, weekends and bank holidays)
Constantly promote the importance of the patient experience within the ward / department. Promote and embed working practices that maintain patient’s privacy and dignity.
Demonstrate on-going professional development by keeping up to date with national and local developments in nursing / midwifery and NHS policy and practice. To provide a positive image of the Trust. To maintain clinical competence in specialist field, maintaining clinical credibility.
To maintain current registration with the NMC and to comply with all standards set by them. To work flexibly throughout the hospital when required. Work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team, supporting departmental development and change. Support staff development in order to maximise potential, encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice.
To manage allocated resources effectively and efficiently. This includes maintaining the correct skill mix of staff for patient dependency, bed management, utilisation of time, pharmacy stocks, equipment and maintenance / repairs.
To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
To be able to take charge of the unit clinically
To be able to manage the patient flow within the department with consideration to target delivery.
