Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Programme Manager for The Herts & West Essex Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (HWEDESP).
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the quality assurance and performance of the new Programme that commenced on 1st April 2024. This is a fixed term post for 15 months.
Based at Sandridge Gate in St Albans, the post holder will be required to support the Programme manager in the day-to-day operational management of the programme including collating and producing comprehensive reports on programme performance, audit, and Internal Quality Assurance.
The deputy programme manager will also support with ensuring adherence to Service Quality Standards, Key Performance Indicators, and Contractual Performance and Activity reports. The successful applicant will be required to represent the HWEDESP at Programme Board meetings and national events.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team with the aim of reducing preventable sight loss from diabetic retinopathy for people in the Herts & West Essex ICB area who live with diabetes.
Main duties of the job
- The Deputy Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting the Programme Manager in the day-to-day operational management, delivery, and development of the service; ensuring the service demonstrates secure systems of working and is run to the highest clinical standards.
- To provide effective leadership and management of the administration and Failsafe team and to be responsible for the development of those staff within the service.
- To deputise for the Programme Manager as appropriate.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist in the monitoring, analysis and interpretation of performance data to produce complex national reports to be presented regularly to NHSE Programme Board.
- To attend NHSE Programme Board meetings and other ad hoc meetings with the commissioners as designated by the Programme Manager.
- Post holder will be responsible for the leadership of the administration team.
- To line manage the Failsafe and Engagement Manager.
- To be an authorised signatory (up to £1,000) including the ordering of consumables and equipment.
- To assist the Failsafe and Engagement Manager in the development of a system to ensure the views of all appropriate stakeholders including users and carers are incorporated in the development of the service by information gathered through a variety of patient interventions and interactions such as use surveys.
- Provide and utilise specialist expertise, advice and support as required.
- To manage conflict and to defuse potentially hostile, antagonistic, and highly emotive situations identifying and negotiating solutions where necessary.
- To anticipate barriers to communications and resistance to change and to be able to manage these effectively, liaising and seeking appropriate support as required.
