Position: Deputy Medical Director (JCC)
Following the establishment of the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) on 1st April 2024 and a recent organisational restructure, we are seeking a Deputy Medical Director, Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) to support our journey as a newly formed organisation.
The NWJCC is a joint committee of the seven health boards in Wales, with a Chair and Lay Members. We support collaborative commissioning across Wales, with around 120 staff based in Mold and Nantgarw/Treforest.
Our mission to be The Centre of Excellence for Collaborative Commissioning, improving health and care outcomes across Wales. We commission around 220 services, from NHS 111 and ambulance services to specialised rare disease services, and mental health, operating a £1.14bn budget.

The Deputy Medical Director will be responsible for supporting the Medical Director in providing leadership, to drive forward the provision of commissioned services for Wales.
This is a post for a Consultant or General Practitioner at a national level within the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC). The Deputy Medical Director will support the Medical Director in building, motivating and developing clinical leadership to drive forward improvement in the commissioning of specialised mental health and learning disability services, ambulance and 111 services, and specialised services for Wales.
The post holder will be required to seek, assimilate and provide complex medical evidence and clinical expertise to inform decision making. They will deputise as necessary for the Medical Director on the Joint Commissioning Committee and related sub committees including Quality, Safety and Outcomes Committee (QSOC), the Collaborative Commissioning leadership Group (CCLG) and the NWJCC Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
