Would you like to join an energetic, committed and friendly team to help early detection and prevention of bowel cancer?

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner to join our dynamic Bowel Cancer Screening team based at Aintree Hospital.

The programme has undergone significant change, building for the future and currently working towards the final stages of Age Extension, lowering the starting age of bowel cancer screening to 50yrs.

We pride ourselves on providing  an exceptional service and excellent patient experience, and as we move towards our ambitious strategy, we require a motivated professional individual with excellent leadership skills to join us in this role.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Lead SSP and Programme Manager to support, lead and train the team of Specialist Screening Practitioners through this period of change.  You will have excellent clinical assessment skills to apply, alongside evidence-based decision making to support patients, their carers and relatives taking part in the programme.  Experience of leading a team, undertaking nurse led clinics; and working within Bowel Cancer Screening is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to the Specialist Screening Practitioners (SSP’s) within the Mersey & North Cheshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient services for both the FIT abnormal, surveillance and Lynch syndrome elements of the programme within the resources available.

The post holder, in liaison with the Lead SSP, will be responsible for the day to day management of the SSP team.  They will also lead on the training and development of the SSPs to ensure the provision of specialist, expert knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients and carers/relatives. The post holder will be able to prioritise their own work load and  be responsible for the planning of the SSP workload ensuring service needs are met. They will need to work independently and as part of a multi- professional team, communicate effectively at all levels and influence change and development of the service.
