12 month secondment opportunity General Manager for Surgery & Digestive Diseases services.

The post holder will support the Senior General Manager and the CSU triumvirate to ensure the safe and effective delivery of all patient services within the CSU. This involves achievement of all operational performance targets, including access, finance, and quality.

The post holder will assist the Senior General Manager with the provision of timely, efficient and effective Clinical Service Unit support ensuring that a responsive, innovative service is provided to the highest possible standards, in line with Trust Strategy.

The post holder will work in a Trust-wide capacity under the direction of the Senior General Manager and will represent them at meetings as necessary and appropriate.

The post holder will support the clinical teams to ensure that clinical safety and quality is maintained alongside the business integrity of the Clinical Service Unit.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the Senior General Manager in ensuring that all performance targets are met, and support the Senior General Manager to develop and implement sustainable solutions in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues across the hospital.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the operational delivery of services; leading and effectively implementing change management initiatives to improve service provision.
  • To influence the strategic development and service improvement within the agreed portfolio, in conjunction with the Clinical Directors, General Managers and Deputy Directors of Nursing.
  • To lead and deliver strategic development and service improvement as required.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that within all specific work areas all local and national performance targets and objectives are met.
  • Responsible for management of resources (human resource, estate, financial) as agreed with the Senior General Manager.

The post holder will be expected to work with minimal supervision and have significant autonomy in the delivery of the above and be responsible for his/her professional actions.

The post holder will hold sole responsibility for a range of duties and services, organising their own workload and working within established policies, procedures and guidelines, as agreed with the General Manager.
