We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity to join our Imaging Department at Ashford and St. Peter's Foundation Trust as a Band 7 Deputy CT Superintendent.

This is a fantastic chance for a motivated with 5+ years  experienced Radiographer to take the next step in their career and work along side with the current CT Superintendent, helping to lead and develop a high performing, patient- focused CT service.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Radiographer with a strong clinical and leadership background in CT, and a passion for leadership and innovation.

Main duties of the job

  • ¨       To deputise for the CT Superintendent Radiographer and to undertake the day-to-day management of allocated staff within the division ¨       To be responsible for CT imaging services across all sites on a day-to-day basis to ensure smooth workflow and operational efficiency ¨       Manage staff activities, allocate resources, and monitor performance to ensure service delivery meets patient care requirements while maintaining the highest quality standards. ¨       To liaise with other Health Care Professionals both in and outside the Trust and departmental staff on a daily basis ¨       To continue to develop one's own knowledge, practice and development through continued professional development ¨       To facilitate the training of junior staff in CT, and along with other senior staff for the training of student radiographers, acting as a role model through leading by example ¨       To understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, staff, visitors and staff according to the Trusts’ Health and Safety Policy

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake and be conversant in all CT examinations to maintain high standards of technical and professional practice in the delivery of a quality service.

To prepare the patient for diagnostic examinations and fulfil the requirements of correct patient identification, confidentiality and data protection.

To work closely with Radiation Physics, GE and Cannon to work on protocol development when needed.

Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required.

To assist with the day to day running of the computer system and help with computer training.

To supervise and train radiographers and students on all aspects of CT.

To report any equipment malfunction to the manufacturer / Equipment Manager and to arrange for engineers to visit as appropriate.

To assist with the training in cannulation, venipuncture and the administration of contrast media.

To liaise with consultants, nursing, clerical and other staff within the hospitals for the benefit of patient care.

To liaise regularly with the CT Senior Radiographers and take a supervisory role with the radiographic team.

Follow departmental protocols to ensure clinical practice and general housekeeping duties follow policies and procedures designed to prevent hospital acquired infection.

To ensure the fabric of the department is in good and safe working order and to arrange repair as required.

To adhere to the Code of Practice for ionising radiation and the local rules for radiation safety.

To participate in the Superintendents on-call rota.

The post holder will be based at St Peters Hospital but will be expected to work at the Ashford site and Woking on a regular basis.
