Job overview

Are you a hard-working, experienced clinician looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to develop your leadership skills?

We are looking for a Deputy Clinical Team Manager for the Anxiety and Depression in Young People Clinic (Oxon Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).  You will be supporting the Clinical Team Manager by undertaking both clinical and operational duties to ensure that we continue to deliver a high quality service to our children and young people.

We're an established team and are currently developing our service to improve the accessibility, responsiveness and excellent care that we provide to children, young people and their families.

You will be part of a  leadership team that meet frequently and work closely together; we're a supportive team with regular managers meetings and opportunities for coaching or mentoring.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake mental health and risk assessments for children and young people within the AnDY Team.
  • Work collaboratively with families and external agencies to develop holistic, evidence-based care plans.
  • Manage a small clinical caseload, providing key working and evidence-based interventions in a hybrid working model (office and remote).
  • Support the Clinical Team Manager with operational responsibilities, including staff supervision, case management, and deputising when required.
  • Contribute to ongoing service development, from initial planning through to implementation and evaluation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The AnDY Research Clinic in Oxford is a collaborative initiative between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS, the University of Oxford’s TOPIC research group, and the University of Reading. Supported by the NIHR Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre, the clinic aims to develop innovative early intervention treatments for children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties. It delivers a cutting-edge psychological service that also supports clinical research, focusing on meeting the needs of a diverse population.

The clinic offers brief, evidence-based treatments for children and young people aged 5–17 with anxiety, depression, or obsessive-compulsive difficulties that significantly affect daily life. Interventions typically last 6–8 sessions and are delivered one-to-one by Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners under the supervision of senior Clinical Psychologists, either in person or online. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys team-based work, service development, and improving outcomes for children and young people.
