An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified decontamination professional and experienced people manager to support the Decontamination Program Manager in leading the Sterile Services team. Excellent leadership skills are essential along with the ability to manage capacity and demand across two busy departments, HSDU and Endoscopy.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System ensuring the Sterilisation Department, including HSDU and Endoscopy is up to date with current legislation and standards. To liaise with the HSDU Deputy Manager and Supervisors ensuring staff are fully trained in all aspects of decontamination through the department’s competency-based training programme, decontamination processes and the department’s standard operating procedures

Conduct working relationships across all grades of staff in a manner that reflects a service orientated department and respects Trust values.
- In the absence of the Decontamination Program Manager act as professional advisor to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC).
- Problem solve and demonstrate a positive approach to new challenges.
- This position requires a flexible approach to the development of services and
structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational/Department objectives.
- Assist and lead where necessary on continuous improvement initiatives
throughout the services.
- Assist in implementing any recommendations relating to the HSDU Quality
Management System as a result of audit by the Notified Body.
- Provision of data and records to enable monitoring and compliance of the HSDU Quality Management System
- Able to work with a degree of flexibility to cover the needs of the service
- Monitor quality of work issued by the sterilise services through quality checks daily
- Initiates action plans for customer complaints
- Keeps Quality Management System up to date for continued compliance
- Looks towards quality improvements in service
- Ability to interpret changes to regulations, standards, and guidance and assess the impact on the Quality Management System.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are kept up to date and reflect current practice and are available in all areas for staff.
- To participate in the development of the decontamination services Quality Policy, Technical Files and Quality Manuals
- Ensure data integrity of records within the Quality Management Systems are kept securely.
- To ensure that the approved suppliers list is current and up to date
- To provide and communicate appropriate highly complex technical/scientific and sensitive advice to users (nursing and non-clinical) of the service, relating to the service provision
