An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to join the Cytology Department within Cellular Pathology at the NNUH, the successful candidate will be based at the Cotman Centre.

As the post holder you will work as part of the Office team for the Cervical Cytology for the HPV Primary Screening Pathway in the East of England and support in providing an effective, efficient, responsive and empathic service.

Cytology is a busy, time sensitive laboratory. We work towards the National 14 day turn-around time target. Our annual workload is approximately 400,000 samples. We are one of 8 laboratories delivering a lean clinical cervical cytology service to the East of England.

We are seeking a highly organized, hardworking and detail orientated individual to join our team.

This vacancy is 37.5 hours (to work 5 days out of 7). Full time: 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

Our small Office team work closely and cohesively together. You will need be focused, motivated, helpful, supportive and flexible while providing a professional administrative support to the Cytology Department.

This role also requires investigation work during certain tasks.

  • Registration of request forms. This includes identifying out of programme samples within set guidelines and reporting to the Laboratory Manager for rejection.
  • Investigation and recording accurate, up to date Colposcopy outcomes onto the LIMS.  The post holder will be expected to communicate with local and national hospitals to ascertain Colposcopy outcomes via email.
  • MDT preparation. This is shared between 6 administration staff
  • Producing daily and weekly referrals to 18 hospitals.  Investigate any anomalies and ensure all referrals are sent to their corresponding Colposcopy Unit.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential as the post holder will need to interact with other professionals nationally.
  • Handling a high volume of emails each day
  • The post holder will approach work proactively and flexibly, managing their workload and adjusting as and when workload requires
  • Professionally, confidently and happily handling Practice Nurse queries, completing a telephone log sheet.
