An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Team Leader to join our existing Immunisation Team. This leadership role requires a motivated professional with excellent communication skills. They will support service change and development to ensure a robust service that will deliver the countywide BCG Programme and School Aged Immunisation Programmes. You will work closely alongside the Head of School Aged Immunisations to develop and improve the Immunisation Service.

The person we are looking for should be someone who has the innovation and vision to support the fast changing programmes. You will need to be able to share this vision and support the Immunisation Team delivering these programmes whilst undertaking team leader duties in relation to managing staff and developing and enhancing our School Aged Immunisation Service to ensure we have a safe and effective delivery model.

You will be providing supervision and teaching the staff, assessing risk and ensuring the safety of the young people and employees.

We are looking for applicants who can work flexibly to meet the needs of the Service, this will include the requirement to be able to work the occasional evening and weekend.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to support the Head of School Aged Immunisations in managing to deliver the Commissioned BCG Programme and School Aged Immunisation Programmes seamlessly to children and young people in the 0-19 age range, and their families.

This will include assisting and supporting in all day-to-day management of a group of staff, including clinical professionals and support staff, partnership working and liaising with other organisations.

This will also include personnel, financial and information management, as well as day to day co-ordination of the service to ensure continuity and the most effective use of resources to meet the needs of the countywide service.

  • The post holder will work in collaboration with the Head of School Aged Immunisations to ensure alignment of professional priorities with the organisational priorities and core business
  • Deliver operational management for the Immunisation Team assuming continuous responsibility for appropriate allocation of workload and effectively manage the team through supervision processes
  • Provide strong professional leadership
  • Ensure effective performance management of the Team
  • To act as an exemplary role model providing the highest standards of evidence based clinical practice, promoting and monitoring safe and effective practice

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for the leadership of the Immunisation Team working in conjunction with the wider operational team To be professionally accountable for the work delegated to other members of the team and be responsible for supervising their practice. To review, appraise and provide clinical supervision, performance management, professional conduct, grievance and disciplinary management, recruitment and selection with support from Head of School Aged Immunisations. The post holder will have a clinical responsibility for the Immunisation Team acting as a resource for the Immunisation Team when required for all school aged programmes and the countywide BCG programme The post holder will provide countywide clinical professional leadership and expertise, providing specific advice including safeguarding and direct clinical decision making (patient and service specific) on all relevant matters to ensure high quality of services provided To analyse and ensure the delivery of operationally efficient and effective services through demand and capacity management and effective clinical triage.
