Job overview

If you are a caring individual looking for an exciting opportunity working with children and young people as a Mental Health Practitioner within the CYPMHS Access team, look no further!

Wirral Young Persons Mental Health Service (formally known as CAMHS) is a therapy-based service which offers support to children and young people with mild to severe mental health difficulties and their families and carers. We work in close alignment with the Local Authority, education and the voluntary sector. Our aim is to ensure that children receive the right support, from the right service at the right time.

Main duties of the job

Due to the current national focus on children’s services an exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the development of CYPMHS service in Wirral in response to this challenge.

As a member of the clinical team, you will independently provide specialist mental health assessments with children & young people with complex mental health needs. In collaboration with the MDT, as well as the young person and their family, you will develop formulations and advise on treatment pathways appropriate to clinical need. You will also offer advice on appropriate support and signposting.

You will undertake preventative aspects of service delivery such as offering consultation and expert advice to other professionals and participating in training programmes.

This role does not involve delivery of therapeutic interventions; however, opportunities may be available to work on ad hoc basis with 0-18 CYPMHS.

This role will entail high throughput, but you will be joining a highly motivated team and supportive leadership structure.

You must have computer skills as all systems are electronic.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Before applying, we encourage you to review the Trust’s Values and think about how these align with your own personal values. The supporting information section in your application should reflect your understanding of the Trust’s Values and associated behaviours and you should provide examples from your work experience and/or personal life which demonstrate these values through your behaviours.

An applicant guide to help and support you through your recruitment journey can be accessed at the bottom of this page. Further help and support for completing your application can be accessed via our website. If you need any further guidance to help you complete your application, contact our recruitment team via email at: [email protected] or by calling 01244 393100.

Please inform the team if you have any special support needs to be considered as part of the interview and selection processes.

The trust offers a Guaranteed Interview Scheme to any armed forces community applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post and encourages applications from armed forces reservists or cadet force adult volunteers.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Applicants are advised to apply early as if a large number of applications are received for this post we reserve the right to close the vacancy prior to the advertised date.
