Pharmacists will work within the clinical pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe and clinically effective use of medicines for inpatients, day care units and clinics within the Trust.
Pharmacists will be expected to act as professional role models and mentors for our more junior pharmacist team, ensuring their clinical practice, values and behaviours meet the high standards of our department and the wider organisation.
- Responsible for the delivery, management and development of pharmacy services to surgery, theatres and CCU against standards defined by national priorities and local Trust objectives.
- To support implementation of safe, effective and economic medicines therapy within surgery, theatres and CCU through regular reports to the pharmacy management team and governance group.
- Lead on strategic, budgetary and medicines management issues for pharmacy services to critical care, surgery and theatres.
- Work with the CCU Lead Pharmacist to develop rapid recovery pathways and systems to support de-escalation of critical care patients.
- Oversee and be responsible for medicines optimisation and governance in pre-assessment unit.
- Deputise for the lead surgical and theatres pharmacist and the lead CCU pharmacist as required.

- a) To provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care, contributing to the multidisciplinary team for clinical units as required, through ward pharmacy services and divisional support. b) Play an integral role in the multidisciplinary team that delivers a high quality clinical service to patients in critical care. This would include regular attendance of consultant- led ward rounds, supporting the team of junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver an effective pharmacy service. c) To respond appropriately to requests from medical and nursing staff for information and advice about the selection and use of drug therapy. d) Take part in audit and project work to support medicines optimisation at the Trust. e) Participate in any pharmacy initiatives or working groups as appropriate. f) To support the Pharmacy team with the department strategy and delivery of the pharmacy vision within the department and throughout the Trust.
