The Anaesthetics and Surgical division includes emergency and elective surgery including specialities general surgery, breast, ENT, urology, orthopaedics, and ophthalmology. This is inclusive of theatres including day-case  and the Critical Care department. The division also provides clinical services departments such as out-patient departments. This makes for a vast and varied division of services with a common focus of providing safe and effective patient care.

Here at Bolton, Critical Care has amalgamated its intensive care and high dependency units and is currently a 18 bedded unit caring for both level 3 and level 2 patients. These patients have a variety of different needs.

We are  looking to recruit motivated, hardworking nurses who have excellent communication skills & a passion for their role and improving patient care. When working clinically we expect you to perform with passion and drive, provide clinically excellent care, and be supportive to patients, relatives, and other MDT members.

We kindly ask that previous applicants to this opportunity do not apply.

Main duties of the job

Critical Care here at Bolton is a great place to work and as a qualified nurse you will be an important part of our Multidisciplinary Team.

As a registered nurse you will be expected to promote and lead the delivery of an excellent standard of patient centred care in a supported environment.  We are keen to hear from nurses with experience in the acute or critical care setting but would also love to hear from nurses with a real passion for excellence in quality and patient-centred care.

We are fully supportive of the preceptorship programme and you will have a supernumerary period to support you in your induction, dependent on experience. To support your ongoing development, your  learning and development will be aligned with national competency for critical care nurses. This will provide foundation to the commencement of a recognised transferrable critical care qualification. You will be guided and supported with many of our multidisciplinary team members including medical staff, outreach, physio, dietician etc. There will be encouragement to achieve extended clinical skills and achieve competency within these.

Both part time and full time hours are available.

Please note, interviews are held face to face and those successfully shortlisted will be expected to attend the interview in person.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Trust appreciates and values the contribution international nurses bring to the NHS. We also understand the support overseas nurses need to gain full registration once in the UK (via OSCE) and therefore we only recruit internationally to fill nursing vacancies when we can ensure support is in place. At this present time we aren’t in a position to offer that support and therefore will not accept applications from overseas nurses who only have Part 1 NMC registration. If that position changes in future we will clearly advertise our opportunities for international nurses to join our nurse team here in Bolton. Thank you for your understanding.

For further information regarding the key responsibilities of this role please see the attached job description. If you have any further questions regarding this role please do not hesitate to contact us via the information below.

The aims of this Trust are to improve the health of and provide the best possible care to the population in which we serve and ensure that our staff have joy and pride in their work. We are striving to recruit a workforce that reflects the communities in which we serve. We value our staff and can offer excellent opportunities for further training and development. We are keen to reflect our local population and therefore applications from all sectors of the community are welcomed.

Please note, interviews are held face to face and those successfully shortlisted will be expected to attend the interview in person.
