Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term (12 months) Maternity cover Team leader post in our well-established Critical Care Scientist/Technology team at Imperial Collage healthcare NHS Trust. The team is aiming to expand comparative technology services at all three critical care sites across the Trust.

The position requires an enthusiastic, motivated, team player with good leadership and communication skills, who enjoys working in a busy, acute environment. You will have a great opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge, and experience in critical care, and enhance the role as an integral part of the critical care MDT.

The successful applicant will work as deputy to the Lead clinical Technologist /Scientist and provide support for day to day running of the scientist/technology team across various ICU departments. Post holder will also expect to fulfil the training officer role for STP students and leading competency-based training for junior staff.

A high technical ability and relevant work experience in critical care environment is essential. Formal STP qualification, Leadership role and registered as a clinical scientist with HCPC are desirable.

Main duties of the job

  • The Critical Care Technology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust has responsibility for providing technical support to the Intensive Care Units (ICU), for developing services in medical technology and working with Clinical Technical Services [CTS] to maintain safe medical device management. This new post has been created to assist with the growing demand for specialist critical care technology to support the introduction and delivery of new treatment modalities including Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Nitric Oxide therapy in heart failure (iNO) and the expansion of critical care provision.
  • As well as assisting in the delivery of the technology service, the post-holder will play a key role in supporting the lead Clinical Scientist in the day to day running of the department including supervision of students and junior staff.
