Job overview

We are seeking an experienced clinical research leader to join our Research & Innovation team within the NIHR Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC).

This is a unique maternity cover opportunity offering a hybrid role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on research delivery across a multi-site hub and spoke model.

You will play a key role in:

  • Driving industry engagement and commercial research growth
  • Strengthening research delivery performance across sites
  • Providing visible leadership to research teams
  • Supporting delivery of complex and high-priority studies

Main duties of the job

The Operations and Strategic Relationship Manager (OSRM) – Clinical Delivery Lead is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and strategic development of the NIHR Clinical Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) Hub and Spoke model across North West London.

This 12-month maternity cover post is designed as a hybrid strategic and operational leadership role, combining system-level oversight with embedded clinical research delivery across the CRDC. The postholder will lead on business development, industry engagement, governance, and performance oversight, while also providing hands-on leadership and support to research delivery teams across hub and spoke sites, with a strong emphasis on senior clinical research delivery, particularly nursing-led delivery.

The role will operate across both strategic and delivery functions, with an indicative 50:50 split between:

  • Strategic OSRM responsibilities, including industry engagement, governance, and network performance oversight; and
  • Hands-on clinical research delivery leadership, supporting teams across the CRDC hub and spoke sites

The postholder will work closely with NHS Research Infrastructure, academic, and industry partners to strengthen collaboration, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance research capacity across the network.
