Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife to join Antenatal Services at Warrington and Halton Hospitals. We are looking for midwives who are motivated to advocate for and support women and families to receive high quality, safe and effective antenatal care.

The successful post-holder will be a band 6 midwife with a current NMC registration. The role will involve working across both Antenatal Clinic and Antenatal Day Unit to provide a 7-day service. Candidates will primarily work Monday to Friday, covering the weekend service on a rostered basis. This role will involve no night duty.

CQC have recently rated our Maternity Services as “Good” and as a team, we are committed to providing families with a positive experience. As a result, we recognise that our staff are the key contributing factor in providing this care to families and we endeavour to provide a positive and supportive working environment.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve working across both antenatal clinic and antenatal day unit to provide a 7-day service.

From time to time the role may involve redeployment to support inpatient areas dependent on service needs, including triage, mixed antenatal and postnatal ward, induction of labour suite, birth suite and the NEST (midwifery-led unit). We ask our staff to be flexible within their role so that we can provide the most effective and safe care, working within a well-functioning multi-disciplinary team.

A brief summary of main duties would involve:

  • Working closely with our consultant obstetricians, consultant midwife, ultrasound department and specialist midwives to develop and deliver evidence-based, personalised care pathways to women and their families
  • Actively listening to families and advocating for their choices whilst maintaining safety
  • Provide exceptional antenatal care in line with our Trust core values
  • Embracing and facilitating change, whilst working within Trust guidelines and NMC code of conduct.
  • Recognise and respond to emergency situations as they arise.
