The post holder will be responsible for strategic and managerial leadership in the continuous development of the Adult Continence Service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Working in collaboration with the  the Directorate Manager for Specialist Services and Stockport Consultants in Urology, the post holder will advance the development and efficient delivery of services in Stockport, consistent with the national, regional, and local continence care objectives.

Main duties of the job

Provide strategic and managerial leadership in the continuous development of the Adult Continence Service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Collaborate with the Directorate Manager and Stockport Consultants in Urology to support and advance the development and efficient delivery of services for Stockport, consistent with the national, regional, and local continence care objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide leadership, guidance, and inspiration to the team members of the Adult Continence Service.

Offer managerial support to the team and social care professionals, including Senior Medical Staff, in matters related to bladder and bowel conditions, utilising advanced communication skills.

Attend Multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure the continuity of Continence Services across all care settings.

Empower the Multidisciplinary Team to deliver comprehensive assessments and management of patients with complex specialist bladder and/or bowel care needs in both Primary and Secondary care settings.

Deliver Specialist Continence Services within the Trust in collaboration with the Consultants in Urology.

Collaborate with patient user groups to foster stakeholder engagement in the development of current and future service provision.

Uphold a professional status in line with the NMC code of conduct and ensure that the requirements for professional registration are fulfilled and maintained by oneself and the Adult Continence Service members.

Oversee the operational and performance management of the Adult Continence Service.

Handle the recruitment, selection, and appointment of staff within the Adult Continence Service, ensuring an appropriate skill mix. Adjust the team's skill mix as necessary, in accordance with National and Local developments and financial resources.

Manage staff sickness and absence in line with Trust policy and maintain up-to-date IPS/personal files.

Partner with the Professional Development Unit to create an environment conducive to staff development and devise induction programs for new staff.

  • Act as a lead in the development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and protocol relevant to own/others areas of work. Ensure processes are in place to identify, collect and evaluate information in order to support clinical decision making. Identify the need for undertaking appropriate research and clinical audit programmes/bench marking processes, to improve effectiveness in service delivery. Disseminate research and/or audit findings through presentation to professional groups and publication as appropriate. Promote and implement the clinical governance agenda Ensure the development of Bladder and Bowel Services in line with the National Institute for Clinical Excellence Guidance and other relevant national guidance. Ensure that there is further ongoing development of high quality generalist Continence Care both in Primary and Secondary Care.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
