Job overview

This is a new full‑time Consultant Rheumatologist post to join an established and expanding Rheumatology team based at Northampton General Hospital. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality outpatient and inpatient rheumatology services for the local catchment population and support service development as part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group. A specialist interest that complements or further develops existing services would be welcomed.

The post is appointed at 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) with annual job planning and flexibility to review should service demands change. The successful candidate will work closely with consultant colleagues and specialist nursing teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient‑centred care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play an important role in maintaining and further developing a busy, high‑performing rheumatology service, improving access to care, streamlining urgent pathways, and supporting future expansion of specialist clinics. There are opportunities to contribute to research, teaching, and leadership roles within the Trust and in collaboration with regional and academic partners.
