Job overview

Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist interested in being a part of the delivery and development of ground-breaking Mental Health Services?

We are recruiting for a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership to the Adult Community Mental Health team based at Wallingford Community Hospital. The team is part of the well-established South Oxon Adults Community Mental Health Team. You will work alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team made up of a variety of individuals including psychiatrists, psychologists, community psychiatric nurses, approved social workers, occupational therapists and support workers, providing the individual with a whole range of support.

The Trust is committed to high quality teaching and training for medical students, post graduate trainees in psychiatry, specialty doctors, students and other professionals. You'll provide direct clinical supervision and line management with opportunities to develop your skills in these areas.

We offer rewarding career development with protected SPA time as part of your job plan, encouraging you to take leadership courses to enhance your skills. We also offer a relocation allowance of up to £8,000 for external applicants (subject to eligibility criteria).

Could this be the next step in your career? Come and join one of the UK's leading mental health Trusts and be part of a successful service delivering health services in the community to adults of working age.

Main duties of the job

With the changing circumstances of modern mental healthcare, the ability to adapt and demonstrate new ways of working is essential. You will have experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry and have great interpersonal skills working with colleagues to work collaboratively with our team managers, and to provide leadership and clinical expertise to our highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary teams.

You will provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the community mental health team and will be responsible for patients seen directly by you, as well as those seen by medical staff under your direct supervision.

You'll assess new routine, urgent and emergency referrals from other agencies alongside other clinicians, provide consultation to non-medical clinicians and offer ongoing management for patients requiring longer term care.
