Main duties of the job

What Your Role Looks Like

The post-holder will have consultant responsibilities for a caseload of up to 14 in inpatient and 8 community-based patients. Some of these patients will be subject to Mental Health Act (MHA) provisions (conditionally discharged, guardianship or CTO). Care co-ordination is provided by community psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists or mental health practitioners. You will have specific consultant responsibility predominantly for patients across Nottinghamshire.

Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients in the community and in an inpatient setting.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective treatment.
  • Take part in service development and academic programmes.
  • Uphold professional standards and contribute to the efficient running of services.

  • GMC specialist registration in Forensic Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • Approved Clinician status and Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act.
