Job overview

**The exciting new role of Associate Medical Director for West Norfolk Locality would also be considered for the right candidate, if the candidate was interested in a leadership development opportunity**

  • All of our substantive Consultant vacancies attract a ‘New Starter’ package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a recruitment bonus
  • All new starters receive up to £12,000 relocation package
  • CPD is being paid at the higher level of £2000 per annum with the facility accumulating annual funding for up to three years to accommodate accessing higher cost development opportunities
  • ‘Holiday of a lifetime scheme’: Consultants and Specialty Doctors can bank/accrue annual leave over a period of up to 5 years, to facilitate an extended period of leave. The scheme enables the opportunity for planning a ‘holiday of a lifetime’ or extended paid break

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older People's Community Team for the West of Norfolk.

We are looking for someone who will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the management of people with complex needs, through the provision of clinical leadership and advice and support.

This is a well established post within the Trust. The post holder will be looking after the working-age patient population.

The people in our care, families and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do.

Main duties of the job

  • The postholder’s main day-to-day clinical role is providing Consultant Psychiatrist input for the Older Peoples Service. The two Older Peoples Service Consultant Psychiatrists will cover each other’s leave.

The CMHT operates in normal working hours, while the DIST provides an extended hours service 365 days a year.  The CMHT undertakes the majority of new assessments, including memory assessment and treatment functions and care coordination duties.

The IOPS responds to crisis referrals (seen within 4 hours) and most of the urgent referrals (seen within 72 hours) and provides intensive support to those in crisis and at risk of admission.  The IOPS provides a gatekeeping role for admissions. Norfolk West Older Peoples Service patients also access specialist beds at the Julian Hospital in Norwich.  These beds are managed by the Norfolk Central Older Peoples Service team and the West Norfolk IOPS liaises with those wards to facilitate early discharge from hospital.
