Main duties of the job

Working as a member of Multidisciplinary Teams, the postholder will provide Consultant clinical input, including face-to-face patient assessment for complex Acute Hospital Liaison, Care Home Liaison and CRHT cases for older adults; and be the Senior Medical Lead for Laurel Ward.  The clinical care of patients under these Teams will be timely and tailored to meet the needs of patients and carers.  The Consultant will be expected to have a flexible weekly timetable designed to respond in a timely and reasonable manner to meet the needs of patients and carers as well as support and advise Team members as necessary.  The postholder will work through advice and supervision with direct patient contact, as required.  This is a district-wide service with rapid throughput of patients, and there is a need for prompt and flexible decision making. This more fluid style of working does not allow for easy quantification of workload.

This is a whole time (10PA) Consultant post within Older Persons Mental Health Services with on-call duties.  The postholder will be based at Great Oaks, Scunthorpe, which houses the 2 inpatient psychiatric wards in North Lincolnshire:  Laurel Ward is for people over 65 years; and the Mulberry House ward is for adults of working age. The Adult and Older Adult and Acute Care non-bed-based services are also based here.
