Consultant Interventional Radiologist

Applications are invited for a Consultant in Interventional Radiology.

The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic team of 8 full-time IR Consultants and participate in a 1:9 IR on-call rota covering Vascular and non-Vascular interventions. The department enjoys close working relationships with Vascular Surgery, Urology and a wide range of other surgical and medical specialities. Core skill set will include nephrostomy drainage, embolization for haemorrhage control and endovascular interventions for peripheral vascular disease. Experience with EVAR is desirable. Interests in gastro-intestinal interventional radiology would be welcome with a growing demand for these procedures. Similarly North Bristol NHS Trust performs around 100 PCNLs per annum. The department has close links with neighbouring Trusts, and provides a regional on-call service delivered through NBT. There may be opportunities for some elective daytime cross-site working.

Main duties of the job

North Bristol NHS Trust is the regional Major Trauma Centre and a requirement of the post is proven ability in the endovascular management of traumatic haemorrhage. Our department is an essential part of NBT’s Major Arterial Centre and of the Bristol, Bath and Weston Vascular Network. North Bristol NHS Trust has one of the largest renal transplant units and one of the largest urology departments in Europe. Experience in vascular intervention including endovascular management of peripheral arterial disease and haemodialysis access and a skill set of non-vascular interventions, including insertion of nephrostomy will be required.
