Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and dynamic Consultant in Stroke Medicine to be involved in the delivery and development of stroke and TIA services across Herefordshire.

Stroke and TIA services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire have changed significantly over the last 10 years, with centralisation of Hyper Acute and Acute stroke services in Worcestershire at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital site in 2013 and the integration of hyper acute (6 bedded HASU), acute and rehabilitation stroke services at the Hereford Hospital site. These changes have resulted in improvements to stroke services across the Integrated Care System.  Hereford Hospital has consistently achieved a SSNAP A or B rating.

The post will be key to delivering the ICS vision for stroke and TIA services across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The individual will work with senior colleagues and executives in the development of an integrated service model for stroke and TIA across the ICS.

Wye Valley NHS Trust, on behalf of the ICS, is therefore seeking to recruit a Consultant in Stroke Medicine to contribute energy, quality and ideas to the delivery and development of this critical clinical service, working closely with the clinical, nursing and therapy teams in Hereford to deliver face to face and remote clinical and consultant expertise. The post holder will be an integral part of an evolving ICS stroke team, led by the ICS Clinical Lead for Stroke.
