We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Respiratory Physician to join our expanding team. We welcome candidates with a variety of interests and skills who are keen to contribute to and further develop our broad range of respiratory services.
Our department is proud to offer specialist services in asthma, tuberculosis (TB), interstitial lung disease (ILD), and cancer diagnostics. We also run a variety of interventional procedures including bronchoscopy lists and dedicated pleural clinics. Work with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high-quality, well-led service for patients of Ashford & St Peter’s, including the diagnosis, investigations, treatment and management of patients, in accordance with Trust policies and practices.
Deliver Direct Clinical Care to patients, through all parts of the Department assisting clinical decision-making and sharing equally in the workload.
To have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and to undertake the administrative duties associated with their care across 5 days.
To be part of the GIM On call rota during their rotation in St Peters.
Have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, ensuring safe handover as appropriate.
Engage with medical, nursing, management and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve the patient experience; ensure the highest quality clinical care.
Actively participate in and support other staff with education, research, audit and clinical governance activities involving a multi-disciplinary workforce across the department.
Participate in the professional training of the staff in the department, both medical and non-medical, and contribute as required to teaching sessions for other hospital staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate staff, including supervision of junior medical staff.
The Job Plan has 9 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) which will be organised on an 18-week rota, and an additional 1.1 PAs for GIM work. The rota allows for Consultants to alternate working on busy and less busy days in order to equalise workloads.
Majority of the DCC is covering the Respiratory ward, providing an in-reach service to the Clinical Assessment Unit, providing general Respiratory and cancer clinics as well covering pleural and bronchoscopy procedures.
The job plan section in the JD is an indicative weekly timetable for the current staffing of 8 consultants. A specific job plan will be agreed upon with the appointed consultant to meet the needs of the service. The Job Plan will be reviewed annually or upon request.
