Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and enthusiastic with a range of skills to complement and develop our urogynaecology service. The post holder will be expected to support our consultants in delivering comprehensive care to women who attend the department and urogynaecology service.
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (as well as other health and social care partners) have embarked on a strategic change programme known as the Integrated Care Systems (ICS). As a result of this the successful candidate may be required to adapt their job plan in the future to work across more than one site within the area; this may also include delivering aspects of care in community settings which supports the Trust’s vertical integration strategy.
The appointee will work closely with the existing Consultants to provide a full range of obstetric and gynaecological services appropriate to a District General Hospital. It is anticipated that the candidate will provide a high standard of general obstetrics and gynaecological and urogynaecology care and audit lead.
The Consultant will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, ensuring safe handover as appropriate. They will take part in a ‘hot week’ and on call Rota and 1:10 weekend on-call and may at some time in the future be required to be resident on call within the limits of the Consultant contract (2003). The unit provides 74.5 hours Consultant presence on Labour Ward by means of a “Hot Week” from 08:00 - 17:00 hours with a further presence till 20:30 hours if “On –Call”. In addition we would expect the successful candidate to contribute to other aspects of the management of the department, including audit, teaching, incident investigation and medical management. As a merged Trust there may be a requirement in the future to work across both sites.
Please see attached Job Description for indicative timetable, further information about this role and working at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Job planning will be used to reflect the needs of the department, ensuring that contracted work is appropriately remunerated. An initial job plan review will be undertaken by the Clinical Director after 3 months and annually thereafter, or if the work pattern changes. Any additional PAs contracted by the Trust will be agreed as a separate part of the job plan by mutual consent based on the service needs.
Please note that all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a virtual pre-interview assessment process.
