*One of your referees should be the Medical Director / Chief Medical Officer of your most recent NHS employer (or their nominated deputy), or equivalent for applicants from outside of the NHS.

For applicants from outside of the NHS, referees to validate a period of three consecutive years of employment.

For internal candidates, your referees should be your Clinical Director and Clinical Lead.

For applicants who are still in a training post, or have completed training within the past year and have not worked in a non-training NHS role since then, a reference from EACH of your two most recent Educational Supervisors.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a substantive full-time NHS Consultant appointment at the Women’s Care Group at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent.

This post is in a busy department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful candidate will provide a Consultant-led and delivered care in different aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The candidate is expected to have worked independently in clinical settings managing gynaecological outpatients for benign conditions, outpatient procedure clinics day surgery and inpatient theatres.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide support to the busy Obstetric and Gynaecology unit. The on-call commitments will include Gynaecology hot week emergency cover as well as supporting the on-call rota for delivery suite. During on-call, all other clinical committmkents are cancelled. Private practice should cease during on-call. Extra support is available from senior consultsnrts in complex cases. Your weekly obstetric session and gynaecology theatre sessions should serve to maintain your skills in emergency obstetrics and emergency gynaecology.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical lead for Gynaecology, within 3 months commencement of the date of appointment. This will be signed off by the Chief Executive officer and will be effective from commencement of the appointment.
