Working Part time: 8.5 Sessions per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Paediatrician to join the Neurodevelopmental Team at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and forward-thinking team, committed to delivering high-quality clinical care to children and young people across Chester.

As a Consultant colleague, you will be part of a wider paediatric workforce that includes 13 Consultant General Paediatricians and a range of other medical professionals within our fully integrated directorate.

There is scope within the service to tailor specific roles and responsibilities to the successful applicant, taking into account both individual and evolving service needs.

Main duties of the job

The directorate provides comprehensive health services for children in Chester and the surrounding areas, working loosely with Local Authority partners to develop and deliver children’s services in line with national policy.

The post holder will work collaboratively with a broad range of professionals, including paramedical services (Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists), Specialist Nurses, Health Visitors, and School Nursing teams. Community work also involves close liaison with Local Authority teams – including the Local Education Authority and Social Care – and with voluntary sector organisations. Strong and effective working relationships are already well established with our secretarial and administrative staff. We also maintain excellent collaborative relationships with colleagues in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and participate in established clinical networks with Consultants at the regional tertiary centre, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
