We seek a dynamic individual to join our integrated clinical haematology service at Ashford & St Peters Hospitals (ASPH) and Royal Surrey County Hospital (RSCH) NHS Foundation Trusts. The team consists of ten Consultant Haematologists, two training SpRs, and a group of Specialist Nurses across both sites.

This substantive post, primarily based at St Peter’s Hospital, offers an 80:20 ASPH:RSCH split and 10 PAs. Responsibilities include contributing to a cross-site 1:8 joint on call rota, a 1:8 attending rota, attending rota for level 2 patients at RSCH, and participating in a weekly joint haemato-oncology MDT.

Main duties of the job

• Deliver Clinical, Educational, Managerial Services of the highest professional standard at Consultant Level to the Department
• Work with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high quality well-led service for patients of Ashford & St Peters and Royal Surrey County Hospital, including the diagnosis, investigations, treatment and management of patients in accordance with Trust policies and practices.
• Deliver Direct Clinical Care to patients, through all parts of the Department assisting clinical decision-making and sharing equally in the workload.
• The Consultant team will provide comprehensive senior clinical cover to the Department.
• Assessment of patients
• Provide consultant cover in ward rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings, clinics, supporting the day unit, anticoagulant service and laboratory responsibilities
• Contribute to teaching/training and undertake audit and managerial responsibilities as appropriate to experience
• Have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, ensuring safe handover as appropriate.
• Engage fully with the care of patients outside the department and provide a prompt opinion on request from consultant colleagues in other specialties

• Engage in service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in Supporting Professional Activities (SPA), including education, management, and clinical governance.
