The successful applicants can expect:

  • 10 PA basic contract working Monday - Friday The Trust has a relocation policy and can be sent to the successful candidate.
  • Support to develop an  interest in Transfusion and Coagulation

We are looking to appoint a substantive consultant to complete our complement of a team of 5 consultants. You will be encouraged to develop subspeciality interest in non- malignant haematology , whilst being supported by a team of experienced colleagues.

We currently have 5 specialty Trainees, along with 2 specialty doctors in Blackpool. There is also a team of clinical scientists and nurse practitioners.

Main duties of the job

The role will be on our JACIE accredited regional unit that treats acute leukaemia, relapsed/refractory lymphoma patients, Burkitt’s lymphoma and undertakes autologous stem cell transplants.  We believe in treating as many patients as possible at home through our ambulatory chemotherapy unit, with plans to develop on-site patient accommodation to facilitate this. We have a strong track record in research and we are high recruiters to many national trials. Teaching is also our passion and involvement in teaching our specialist registrars and junior doctors, as well as medical students via our growing links with the new UCLAN Medical School, is very much encouraged.

You may be a trainee about to complete specialist training. We understand the challenges that stepping up to the first consultant job brings, and you will be fully supported in that transition. Equally well, you may be an experienced haematologist looking for that new challenge in the next phase of your working life.
