Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a substantive Consultant appointment to our Critical Care team.

Based at Royal Berkshire hospital, this is a 10 PA post for a Consultant qualified to work in Intensive Care Medicine. Applicants with a second CCT in a relevant specialty would be welcome. The expectation is that the clinical commitment to ICU and the second specialty would total 8.5 PAs a week with 1.5 SPA. Less than full time applications are actively welcomed, recognising the importance of variable job planning to ensure a sustainable career.

The simulation date will be 7/7/26 and the interview date will be  15/7/26

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of 16 ICU Consultants, some of whom have dual accreditation with either Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine or Emergency Medicine which supports excellent relationships with these departments. Our Consultant group includes the current Thames valley ICM TPD, previous FICM dean, previous FICM RA, three FICM examiners including the current chair, three ESICM examiners and directors for resuscitation courses (APLS, ALS, ATLS, FICE).

The Royal Berkshire Hospital ICU is recognised for ICM training at all levels, Stages 1-3 and receives trainees from a number of training programs.

The aim of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Intensive Care service is to become a leader in the field of clinical management and the successful applicant must therefore have the pre-requisite procedural and leadership skills as well as team work, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving these goals.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a CCT/CESR/CESR(CP) in Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent) or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT/CESR(CP) at the time of interview
