Main duties of the job

The Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health (EWMH) Care Group aim to “provide an integrated children and young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health service with single point of access and no wrong door approach”.

The post holder will provide medical psychiatric assessment and intervention to patients in the EWMH Care Group. Clinical sessions will include developing the urgent response to our SPOA/Assessment team and delivery of core interventions including under Part 2 of the Mental Health Measure.

The post will be part of the regional out-of-hours psychiatry rota which supports the Crisis teams across Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf Morgannwg, and Swansea Bay Health Boards with an on-call Psychiatrist.

With transformation & growth we have remodelled the service, offering clear pathways of care for children and young people. In addition to transforming these services, we have implemented new services in response to changing demands.

With the extension of our crisis team and development of a dedicated Intensive Home Treatment Service, we offer an alternative to admission where a child or young person with acute presentations may be better managed at home or a community environment acting as a set down service to those needing ongoing intensive support following admission

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.
