Job overview

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Wimbledon IRH based at Wilson Hospital Mitcham CR4 4LD. The role is being offered as 5PAs on a substantive basis. The Wimbledon IRH provides care for working age adults who live in the borough of Merton and experience severe or enduring mental illness. The IRH is one of three within the borough, with care provided according to GP/PCN alignment. The post sits within a well-established MDT including another part time consultant in addition to this post.  It works closely with a separate Consultant-led Assessment team and interfaces with a consultant-led Home Treatment Team and in-patient wards. There are also specialist teams for Early Intervention in Psychosis, and Personality Disorder.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work alongside another part time consultant and will be clinically responsible for providing high quality clinical leadership and psychiatric care to patients under the care of the team, lead on the training of core or higher psychiatry trainees in the team, and contribute to the teaching of St George’s University of London Medical Students. The postholder will work in partnership with the Team manager and MDT, including an Enhanced Response Practitioner and borough based Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Supervisory support is available from the Associate Clinical Director for Merton as needed.

If you are a dynamic and established consultant psychiatrist fully registered with the GMC as well as holding S12 approval under the Mental Health Act or are a high trainee within nine months of being eligible for this grade, we would be delighted to hear from you.
