
This post will help address the Trust’s diagnostic and treatment targets in out-patient, inpatient and endoscopy services, and help enhance our capacity for the anticipated expansion in endoscopy services over the next few years. If appropriate the job plan of the post-holder may be configured to accommodate any other subspecialist expertise.
The post holder should have MRCP and demonstrate entry onto the GMC specialist register with CCT (or within 6 months of it at interview) or CESR. They would contribute to the general gastroenterological workload including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, in addition to a small caseload of the general medicine. A research interest with evidence of publications is desirable as is a post graduate degree.
There is a normal working week in between the outlier and CoW week. Consultants will be given 2 rest days in the week after CoW duties are completed (Monday and Friday).
Gastroenterology consultants do not take part in the GIM oncall rota, however are expected to manage GIM patients on the ward.
