Job Overview

Join Our Dynamic ENT Department at Castle Hill Hospital

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Consultants to join our thriving ENT Department, based primarily at Castle Hill Hospital.

We welcome applications from dedicated individuals at all stages of their consultant career, whether you bring a specific subspecialty interest, are an established General ENT Consultant, or are wishing to pursue CESR. As a team, we are committed to supporting the right candidate to grow and thrive within our well‑established, collaborative service. You will be joining experienced consultants, registrars, and a Head & Neck Fellow, all united in delivering high‑quality care across a diverse and rewarding ENT portfolio.

You’ll work within modern outpatient and day‑surgery facilities, share an inpatient ward with Breast & Plastic Surgery, and contribute to paediatric and day‑case ENT services at Hull Royal Infirmary. Our team also leads on acute ENT emergency care.

Our service delivers a comprehensive Head & Neck and Thyroid cancer pathway, supported by specialist surgeons and advanced techniques including Transoral Robotic and Endoscopic surgery. We also provide anterior and lateral skull base service along with our neurosurgical colleagues. You’ll collaborate closely with Plastic, Maxillofacial, Neurosurgical and Cardiothoracic colleagues, as well as partners across the Northeast Yorkshire and Humber Cancer Alliance.

Main duties of the job

With major recent investments - including a £45m upgrade to surgical facilities and the £67m Queen’s Centre for Oncology - you’ll work in an environment designed for excellence. The department also benefits from an active research programme led by Professor John Greenman.

You’ll play a key role in elective, emergency and subspecialty ENT services, while supporting the development of trainees and multidisciplinary colleagues. Join us and help shape the future of ENT care for a population of over 1.1 million.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Support and develop ENT services in alignment with the Trust’s strategic priorities, working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high‑quality care.
  • Deliver routine and emergency ENT services as part of the consultant team, including participation in the out‑of‑hours rota and providing cover during colleagues’ annual, study, and professional leave.
  • Provide elective and subspecialty ENT care, contributing to the general service while delivering specialist surgical expertise in line with Trust needs.
  • Contribute to education and training, supporting the development of junior doctors, medical students, nurses, paramedics, GPs and other NHS professionals.
