Job overview

This is a 10 PA full time post in Dermatology with the potential for less than full time working. Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop an interest in Skin cancer care whilst maintaining a continued commitment to general dermatology.  The post would include general dermatology on-call on a 1 in 10 basis and inclusion in the rota for supervision of the urgent assessment clinic. Digital forms of assessment are increasingly used in our departmental practice, and the timetable may include digital skin cancer clinics, advice and guidance and electronic referral triage. Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will contribute to the general organisation and running of the dermatology services within the Trust and in outreach clinics, working in collaboration with colleagues.
  • They will participate in all aspects of Clinical Governance, making a significant contribution to multidisciplinary audit and risk management activities.  The post-holder is expected to attend the weekly journal club, histopathology and clinical meetings held for patient care and CPD.
  • They will assist the Directorate Manager in the timely investigation of complaints, working to provide reports within the time frame set out by Trust Policy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The appointee will have dedicated secretarial support, a PC with internet access and office facilities.
  • There is a monthly formal Consultants’ Meeting to discuss administrative issues.
  • The appointee will be required to undertake administrative duties in relation to the care of his/her patients and in relation to the running of services in conjunction with the Specialty Manager and Clinical Director within a context of compliance with Directorate aims and objectives.
  • The appointee is entitled to become a member of the Medical Staff Committee of the hospital.
