The CUH Hematopathology & Oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) are looking to appoint a Consultant Clinical Scientist.
HODS provides the NICE IOG NG47 compliant Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS) for 9 NHS trusts within the East of England; including morphology, immunophenotyping and histopathology for the diagnosis, classification and disease monitoring of haematological malignancies for paediatric and adult patients.

Act as the scientific and operational lead for the Haematopathology and Oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) providing a regional specialist integrated haematological malignancy diagnostic service (SIHMDS) to the East of England
Act as an expert resource/diagnostician for aspects of haematological malignancy diagnosis and disease monitoring to include microscopy, flow cytometry and complex laboratory defined assay development.
The role requires frequent communication and close working with members of the haemato-oncology multidisciplinary team, including consultants in diagnostic and clinical Haematology, Haematopathology, Paediatric Haematology, Histopathology, Surgery and Radiology, as well as scientific staff in other CUH and regional laboratories
Participate and actively promote operational interactions and collaboration with co-dependent laboratories (currently the genomics and histopathology labs) and their senior scientific and clinical leadership to deliver effective and coordinated haematopathology diagnostics
Ensure that diagnostic/disease monitoring reports of complex assays are accurate and clinically relevant for MDT discussion
Plan and maintain the service delivery and laboratory activities to comply with all contractual obligations and necessary accreditation bodies including but not limited to UKAS ISO 15189 2022

Be responsible/accountable for the departmental budget
Participate in teaching/training of medical and scientific staff
