Job overview

Service developments mean that we have an opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) Service across Coventry and Warwickshire. This newly configured post will offer professional and clinical oversight of our NHS psychological services provided into schools and colleges. The role will also support the transformation agenda for prevention and early intervention services for children and young people (CYP) in liaison with NHSE, ICB and VCSE services.

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and experienced in evidence-based psychological approaches for CYP mental health including holding a strength in CBT. The post is advertised as full-time (37.5 hours), but we can consider requests for part-time (minimum 30 hours) working. We are able to discuss options within our flexible working policy such as compressed hours. We can consider appointing to a development role (8b-8c).

MHST work into schools from several NHS bases across Coventry and Warwickshire. There will be some opportunities for remote working, but regular on-site presence at our MHST bases is expected. The ability to travel between sites during the working day is expected.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate strong professional leadership for Psychological Services, practice and Professions within our Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Schools and colleges offer across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Provide highly specialist psychological advice within MHST including demonstrating expertise in evidence-based psychological therapies and interventions to include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Support, guide and represent the broad views of psychological services staff within MHST providing a level of visibility to teams/staff that enables these goals to be met.

Work closely with the Head of Service, MHST Service Manager and other leads to interpret and deliver national clinical guidance and key targets in relation to the performance of MHST in schools and colleges.

Ensure that psychological services staff are invited to contribute to business planning, service developments and any programmes of change within MHST.

Responsibility for monitoring and improving the quality of psychological services and practice offered within MHST including routine use of paired outcomes measures and service-user feedback.

As a major requirement of the job, provide oversight of research, audit, service evaluation and quality improvement activities within MHST

Psychological Professions benefit from a clear support structure with leadership and oversight from a C&YP Services Directorate Professional Lead. You will be joining a supportive peer group of six Consultant Psychological Practitioners within our CYP services.
