Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Consultant Cardiologist to join an existing team of nine Consultant Cardiologists working in this successful Teaching Hospital.  This is a post for a consultant cardiologist with an interest in imaging.

Currently this post involves weekend working but no on call but the GIRFT programme is encouraging on call to be provided in all hospitals.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to contribute to the delivery of a seven day a week service however this can be delivered flexibly to maintain work life balance or support a specialist interest at a tertiary centre.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To maintain the highest clinical standards in Cardiology

To provide outpatient services in general Cardiology and subspecialty services as agreed after appointment

To share with colleagues the provision of Cardiology advice to medical and surgical inpatients

To work with colleagues, both medical and nursing to improve and advance the service.

To share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Department.

To share with colleagues the responsibility for teaching and training of trainees, resident medical colleagues, nursing colleagues, primary care and medical students.

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
