Job summary

Main duties of the job

Undertake specialist, holistic, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical care for a caseload of patients with complex respiratory disease.

Be knowledgeable in respiratory disease, pathophysiology, function and management.

Provide specialist advice to patients/carers.

Be skilled in oxygen assessment, review and prescribing.

Act as an accountable practitioner.

Maintain accurate records as an autonomous practitioner.

Act as point of contact for the wider local community teams.

Provide education, mentorship and leadership for junior colleagues and students.

Skilled at assessing and managing risk.

Accepts the responsibility for decisions made and actions taken.

No requirement to manage/monitor budget.

Job responsibilities

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
