We are recruiting for UK NMC Registered Midwives who share our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of care by the best of people and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

The successful applicant will work within a community midwifery team with links to the obstetrics unit. Will be accountable for the overall provision of excellent care and provide evidenced based person centred midwifery care which can be delivered in a verity of models. The post holder will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, other agencies and user representatives.

We offer equal opportunity to all and can offer tier 2 sponsorship for International Midwives who have already obtained a UK NMC Pin.

At present this vacancy is not able to accept applicants that require support to sit their OSCE and complete their NMC registration. However this is continuously under review and if this becomes available in the future, details of this will appear on the vacancy advertised.

Main duties of the job

The main duty of the job is to Provide comprehensive midwifery care to women, birthing people, and babies throughout their pregnancy , Act as an advocate, Manage complex medical and social caseloads, Deliver health promotion,  Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care based on current evidence, unit policies, and the NMC Code,  Participate in the on-call rota, attending homebirths (planned or unplanned) and supporting the maternity unit during periods of high demand.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Community Midwife plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based midwifery care to women, birthing people, and their babies during  their  pregnancy, from booking and antenatal care, through labour and birth, to postnatal support. The Community Midwife acts as an advocate and educator, ensuring culturally sensitive, person-centred care that promotes optimal health outcomes.

Medway Maternity Services support approximately 5,000 women and babies per annum. We are forward thinking with motivated midwives, obstetricians and support teams, who strive to improve the quality of the service that we offer to our women, their babies and their families. We have achieved and sustained Baby Friendly Initiative Stage 3; won national awards including the RCM Team of the year in 2019 and provide a variety of professional development opportunities for all levels of staff.
