Job overview

The post holder will be based within the Rotherham Learning disability team and part of the wider Learning Disability and Forensic directorate. Working closely with the Learning disability Service Manager to review the current business activities within the service. The post holder will also be the lead in promoting the service, identifying good practice and working closely with the team to implement any recommendations.

The post holder will have direct line management responsibilities for the agreed service and robust management of the team.

The community team manager will assist and oversee the day to day clinical and operational responsibilities for the clinical services within the community learning disability team.

To lead and support the team in providing a high standard of care within a variety of clinical specialities.

To contribute to the development of the community health team services.

To lead and embed the principles of transforming care across the learning disability service.

Main duties of the job

Job outline:

  • To provide support to the service manager to meet the aims and objectives of the service including deputising and delegated responsibilities.
  • To provide support to the service manager in the effective day to day  management of the team within the resources available and agreed governance frameworks.
  • To review staffing levels and skill mix as necessary.
  • To be responsible for the leadership, mentorship and support of staff on a daily basis
  • To manage and provide management / clinical supervision to staff under your line management
  • Work within the infection control agenda to improve standards
  • Improving environments for patients
  • Work with patients and their carer/relative in addressing concerns by building closer relationships
  • To promote partnership working with patients, carers and stakeholders.

Scope & Authority:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of team
  • Develop and maintain a culture of person-centred care within the services.
  • Promote a caring environment where equality and diversity issues are respected, and service users and their carers are enabled to be partners in their care.
  • Responsibility for devolved budgets
  • Develop strategies to enhance communication between staff, patients/clients, relatives and their carers, showing awareness of barriers to understanding.
