Band 6 Community Alcohol Nurse - 22.5 hours per week:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse to join are Community Hospital Alcohol Team based on the Harplands Hospital Site  on a part time basis, 22.5 hours per week.

We are seeking an empathic and dedicated individual with experience from a range of sectors to join us in our team.

Main duties of the job

Under the Management of the CHAT Team Manager the role will contribute to the provision of high quality substance misuse services which provides detoxification and recovery focused clinical treatment for the population of Stoke-on-Trent. To work within a strengths-based, recovery orientated, change and outcomes focused approach which promotes service users as responsible co-producers of health, well-being and recovery.

Working closely with nursing and medical teams in the Royal Stoke Hospital with a strong focus on the Accident and Emergency Departments relating to the patient group of alcohol related frequent flyers and the continued alcohol detoxification work with patients who have been admitted into the medical hospital wards

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.  To provide support of the team ensuring processes are in place for the delivery of safe, compassionate care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

2.     Work closely with the Royal Stoke Hospital and the Edward Myers Unit with a strong a focus on continued home detoxification and continued alcohol detoxification work with patients who have been referred for treatment.

3.     To work collaboratively with other services to provide interventions to support and motivate service users and meet their needs through all stages of their individual recovery journey.

4.   To contribute to the supportive leadership and governance of the clinical team. Supporting the multi-disciplinary team of staff in the delivery of high quality evidence based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal takes place.

5.    To deliver specific clinical interventions to the client group and liaise with other professionals regarding progress and outcome.

6.     Role model best practice, undertaking nursing procedures to a standard that ensures safe and effective care, and complies with the NMC Code (2016).

7.     Management of clinical care for the service, ensuring the 6C’s and Trust values underpin the practice and delivery of the team.

8.     To liaise with professionals within the Team and other agencies both statutory and non-statutory who link to the substance misuse service delivery.
