
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to join our Adult Eating Disorder Service at an important period of transition. Our current inpatient facility is moving to a new site within the trust and service delivery models across the pathway are being reviewed going forward.
Our psychology team has a key role in supporting this work. Our clinicians work into our community, day service, intensive home treatment and inpatient pathways and whilst it is envisaged that the postholder will largely work into our day service and community settings there is likely to be opportunities to work into the inpatient part of the pathway too in response to patient/ service need.
The adult eating disorder service is a specialist regional service for adults experiencing an eating disorder, particularly Anorexia Nervosa. The area covered by the post will be the wide geographical area covered by CNTW and may include a combination of online and face to face appointments. Within the team however work is organised on a patch/ locality basis to ensure effective use of time/ resources.
There will be opportunities for the post holder to work as part of an MDT, to offer individual and group therapies, to facilitate team formulation approaches and offer a reflective practice space.
When appropriate the postholder will offer clinical supervision to less experienced colleagues.

The post-holder is responsible for providing a specialist psychology service to clients both within a community, day service and inpatient setting, providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation.
The post holder will provide specialist psychological services to adults experiencing eating difficulties with an emphasis on NICE recommended interventions, recommendations based on research and the wider evidence base e.g. PEACE pathway and formulation driven approaches.
The post holder will keep up to date with new innovations in the field of eating disorders.
The post holder will fulfil all the main duties of a Band 7 Psychologist/ Therapist, including holding a specialist case load, offering team formulation and reflective space, where appropriate offer clinical supervision, keeping up to date with Mandatory Training and CPD and contributing to service evaluation and research. The post holder will also work closely with carers, family members, and other stakeholders working alongside eating disorder services, e.g. university mental health services.
The post holder will be qualified, or demonstrate a willingness to train, in psychological models recommended for people experiencing eating disorders i.e. MANTRA, SSCM or CBT-E.
The post holder is expected to be familiar with and have some knowledge of all the main psychological models currently recommended in the treatment of adults experiencing eating disorders. The post holder will have experience of, and developed skills in, establishing therapeutic relationships with people who can be ambivalent regarding change and level of engagement.
The post holder will be familiar with working autonomously with patients who carry a high level of risk due to their physical and mental health. The post holder will be experienced in working collaboratively with other professionals.
The post holder will have experience of working within the NHS.
