Are you passionate about using a breadth of psychological skills to proactively support people with learning disabilities and their care networks?

We are looking for two motivated Psychologists to work within our well-established and innovative multidisciplinary Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities.

One post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and the other is 0.9wte (33.75 hours per week). We are keen to hear from candidates who share the values of our creative and trauma-informed service. We are striving to develop our anti-discriminatory practice and lead on our divisional strategy on equity.

You would be joining a large, welcoming community of Psychologists, who use a variety of psychological models and approaches including Systemic working, EMDR, CAT, CFT, Positive Support and neuropsychology. We welcome each Psychologist’s specialist interests. We can offer opportunities for CPD and to develop supervisory skills.

These exciting posts cover a wide geographical area across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire. Flexible working across our three bases in Chertsey, Aldershot and Guildford is encouraged. The successful applicants' preferences about their main base will be considered.  Due to the travel involved, we can only welcome applications from people with a current valid driving license who have access to a vehicle for work-related purposes.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a range of highly specialised assessments, such as assessments of intellectual disability and/or ASD, and dementia assessments, as well as assessment and formulation of psychological distress.
  • To deliver a variety of interventions, with both individuals and their support networks, as part of our evidence based psychological pathways. This might include direct one-to-one therapeutic work, consultation to staff teams and systemic family work, as well as training others.
  • To work with others within health and social care services, which might include service providers, families and carers, to deliver high quality care.
  • To work autonomously and to effectively function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.
