The Clinical Team Leader will lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice; with particular reference to the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. They will also assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the multi-disciplinary ward staff; supervising the work of Staff Nurses, healthcare Assistants, and student nurses. The Clinical Team Leader will deputise for the Clinical Nurse Manager in their absence.

Working as a Clinical Team Leader, this position will require the post holder to support the Ward Manager to provide operational management and leadership to a team of Nursing staff and work effectively alongside a multi-disciplinary team. You will be closely involved in developing excellent care pathways for patients within our service and to support Recovery & User Empowerment at all stages of care and treatment.  We hope the post holder will help to shape the future of our service and provide high quality of care for Users of our Services.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be required to provide leadership to a team of clinical staff and to be seen as a professional role model for nurses.

Applicants must be committed to multi-disciplinary team work and have excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.

  • To provide support and supervision to a group of nursing staff
  • To develop and maintain communication with individuals or groups of patients, carers and staff, about difficult or complex matters, overcoming any problems in communication in different situations.

  • To promote, monitor and maintain best practice in health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
  • To appraise, interpret and apply suggestions, recommendations and directives to improve services.
  • To contribute to quality improvement.

  • To contribute to promoting health and well-being and preventing adverse effects on health and well-being.
  • To assess complex health and well-being needs and develop, monitor and review care-plans to meet those needs.
