The Clinical Teaching Fellow posts are offered as part of an innovative and ongoing teaching initiative which seeks to professionalise clinical teaching, at the same time as allowing individuals to develop their own teaching skills and expertise in medical education. Suited to individuals with a keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, postholders will be encouraged to pursue their own specific areas of educational development which could include simulation training, clinical skills training, human factors and clinical teaching.
Postholders will be required to support all five years of the undergraduate medical curriculum, providing varied input from bedside teaching to simulation and clinical skills teaching. Depending on the pathway chosen, postholders will develop additional teaching for simulation, human factors and/or clinical skills both for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate resident doctors. Postholders will become members of the Medical Education Faculty, supporting Faculty Leads and teaching leads in the delivery of medical education across the Health Board.
This is a clinical teaching fellow post with either a defined education or simulation element to it. The educational and simulation purpose of this post is to deliver, develop and expand a comprehensive training and teaching programme in line with the Undergraduate medical curriculum, Foundation Training Curriculum and IMT Curriculum.
Delivery of education may take place on any site across the Health Board and close liaison with the Education Management Teams based on all sites under the guidance of appropriate members of the Faculty Team will be essential.
Applicants may choose to follow a purely Medical Education or Simulation pathway and the responsibilities outlined below offer a guide to each route. Alternatively, it is possible to opt for a combined or bespoke route which will be agreed during the induction period.
