Fracture clinic is a busy Trauma Clinic, seeing patients who have injuries sustained in a variety of ways.  We see both adults and children in fracture Clinic.  Elective orthopaedic clinics are where patients are seen who have been referred in by their GP for a more specialised opinion.  Some of the elective clinics we staff are for spinal services, neurosurgery, children's clinics etc.

The role of Nursing Assistant in a busy, fast paced environment is to maintain an efficient patient flow within the department.  You will have a responsibility for running of a clinic/clinics on a daily basis providing a chaperone service to the Doctors.

Main duties of the job

As a nursing assistant in the clinic environment you will be running clinics in both fracture clinic and elective orthopaedics.  You will be expected to chaperone the doctors during consultations and provide assistance to the patient if needed, this could be by providing personal care as and when required or just assisting with queries.  You will also be required to fit splints, braces etc. when you have been trained and deemed competent to do so.

The skills that we are looking for from the candidate who is successful would be excellent communication skills, computer skills and good interpersonal skills.

The personal qualities we would look for are that the successful candidate would have initiative and be proactive in the role and be reliable and punctual.  Willingness to adapt is also important as sometimes clinics change at last minute and so you need to be able to adapt and change when required.  You will also have a willingness to learn new skills.

Working at both sites may also be undertaken on occasions as and when required.
