The School Nurse Clinical Support Worker will work within their scope of practice carry out aspects of care,give support and advice, information and signpost. The SN CSW will be part of the National Child
Measurement Programme (NCMP) for Walsall, attending schools and other educational establishments to weigh and measure children and young people. The CSW will be involved with inputting of NCMP data and producing the letters. The CSW will support the nursing team in the delivery of health interventions e.g. clinics, health education sessions, parent and child groups.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children’s Health services which provides Community based services for children and young people (aged 5-19 years). The School nursing service works with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.
The overarching aim of public health services for children (5-19) is to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of children and families. The School nursing service is a workforce of specialist community public health nurses who provide expert advice, support and interventions to families with children and Young People between 5-19 years, and help empower young people to make decisions.

As a clinical support work you will work under the direction of the Clinical Team Leader provide efficient, effective and comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the School Nursing Service. You will carry out visits to schools as part of national child measurement programme (NCMP) to weigh and measure children and young people. You will support the nursing team in the delivery of health interventions e.g. clinics, health education sessions, parent and child groups.
